How to Set Up Custom Audiences in GA4?

A Variety of Templates
Google Analytics 4 offers an array of templates that are suitable for defining your audience. These templates have configured audiences that are identified according to some metrics and dimensions. Google Analytics 4 has three types of templates, such as:
- Demographics Template
It has age, language, gender, location, and interest IDs. It helps supply the dimension values as well as operators. - Technology Template
It has the operating system version, platform, device’s brand and category, and model dimensions of the mobile. - Acquisition Template

Creating the Audience in Google Analytics 4

- Open the Google Analytics 4 dashboard and open the “configure” link from the menu.
- Tap on “audiences.”
- Now, you have to tap on the “new audience” option, and an overlay will pop up. After this, you will have the option to create an audience from general, templates, or predictive.
Now, we are talking about creating a custom audience in GA4, so let’s check out the steps:
- Tap on the “Create a custom audience” button, which will lead you to the configuration panel.
- Click on the “untitled audience” button and add a descriptive name to the audience.
- Now, tap on the “add a description” option, to add details about the custom audience. Make sure that you add the proper description of the audience.
- The next step is to define your audience’s scope.
When you’ve to set the conditions for your audience, it will help set the scope. As a result, it will help Google Analytics 4 analyze your audience’s scope. You’ve to click on the drop-down menu, and the condition scoping will pop up. The following options will appear, such as:
- Within the same event
- Within the same session
- Across all-session
On this page, you’ve to select the first condition, and you’ve to define the duration of membership for the customized audience. Once you are done adding the condition, tap on the “add new condition” button, and you can keep adding new ones. There is an option to select from the available menu or type in the screen’s search bar. You’ve to choose the dimension type (there are two options, including registered and automatic). Once done, follow the below steps:
- After adding the dimension, select the “country ID” from the list of available dimensions and tap on the “contains” menu.
- Now, click on the “value” button to add the dimension value. You’ve to select the value that you want to create the audience for, such as CN, US, and IN.
- The next step is to select the check box “at any point,” and users will be added to the customized audience list whenever the condition is true.
- Once you are done adding different conditions, tap on the “save” button in the upper right corner.
